VEEDERSBURG - Martin Melvin Drummond, age 82, of Sidell, Ill., grandfather of Martin Drummond of Veedersburg, died Thursday, Aug. 8, at his home after a long illness. He was born Aug. 19, 1885, in Camargo, Ill., the son of William and Edith Ellis Drummond, He was married Feb. 12, 1914, to Oma West at Tuscola, Ill., and she survives. Surviving, in addition to the wife, are: three daughters, Mrs. Mary E. McGill of Merritt Island, Fla., and Mrs. Louise Boggess and Mrs. Hattie Tate, both of Danville, Ill.; one son, Willis of Stone Bluff; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Jones of Paris, Ill.; one brother, Frank of Gays; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Paul; two sisters and three brothers. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Honnold & Son Funeral Home in Sidell. The Rev. Frank Gilroy officiated and burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery at Indianola. - jlr
